You are looking for a way to add your favorite Dictionary data to Moon+ Reader so that you don’t have to exit the application every time you come across a strange, obscure word, or when you want to look up something on Wikipedia. Adding your favortite Dictionary Data to Moon+ Reader can be a bit tricky if you are not used to these sort of things. Moon+ supports a lot of different dictionaries. You get to add any of the following universal dictionary applications like, ColorDict, GoldenDict, Fora, ABBYY Lingvo. However, for this tutorial i am going to take ColorDict, which is my favorite dictionary app for Moon+ Reader or any third-party integration.

Steps to add ColorDict Dictionary to Moon+ Reader.

1. Install the ColorDict application from Google Play.

2. Now that you have installed the application, you need to install your favorite Dictionary Databases. You can find compatible Dictionary Databases on Google Play. I highly recommend “Wikipedia”,”English Thesaurus”, and “English Wordnet.” I myself found it really hard to find these thesaurus files on Google Play and the Internet. The thing is some of them can still be found on Google Play, but you wouldn’t know if they are the right ones. The easiest way to find them is to look for them in the “Users Also Installed” section in ColorDict app page in Google Play. At least they are not hard to identify — you are looking for apps with red, blue, and green cubes in the icon. Take a look at the image below.

3. You can also find ColorDict compatible dictionary apks on the internet. Install your favorite dictionaries and each of dictionary database app will prompt to uninstall from the device after they have run — since they have extracted the needed files in the SDCard and they are not needed anymore. Now all the data needed by ColorDict is in your SD Card. The next step is to import all of them to ColorDict. No worries if they don’t prompt to uninstall, just move to the next step and you can maybe get rid of the apps once you make sure the dictionaries work.

4. Open the ColorDict application. The application will start indexing the data which we just extracted in step 3. If the indexing doesn’t start on its own, go to “Dicts” tab in the application, press the menu and press “reindex.”

5. You will be able to see all the various dictionaries you installed. You can also move the dictionaries up or down in the list based on your preference.

6. Open Moon+ Reader and open a book. Long press on any word and choose “Dict.” If you did all the above 5 steps correctly you will be able to see the dictionary function working.

UPDATE: How to highlight text and prevent the dictionary from popping up?

If you try to highlight text to copy it to clipboard the dictionary might come up, thus preventing you from highlighting and copying text. It could be quite annoying. According to some users the issue might persist even after one gets rid of the dictionary.

The solution to this issue, apparently is quite simple, but the option might be a bit hard to find.

1. Select text. When the pop up appears quick select cancel and then “more” on the selection window.
2. Go on the last option “Personalize” and then unmark the automatic dictionary option.
