For those who doesn’t know Versant is a communication testing system. The technology uses a speech processing system that is specifically designed to analyze speech from native and non-native speakers of English.
This Monday i had my Versant test. The test is totally divided in to 5 parts.
Part A: Reading
We were given a set of 12 point, where the system asks us to read the sentences at random. It was quite easy, as i practiced reading all the sentences before itself
Part B: Repeat
Here we have to hear to the sentences what the voice says and repeat it back. This was a bit tough for me. Cos, i cant even guess the words in some sentences, but still i managed to add some words in between.
Part C: One word questions
The voice will ask you some simple questions and you have to give the answer in a single word or a phrase. Again i fumbled for 2 or 3 questions.
Part D: Sentence Build
Here the system will split a sentence and jumble it and we will have to tell in the correct way. This was a bit tough. As i was not able to understand some words.
Part E: Free Speech
This is the only part i liked. The voice will give u 3 topics one after another and you have to speak on it for 20 sec each. I was talking all bullshit, since these questions don’t have a specify answer.
Like for instance i got this topic
” What family activity you will suggest to improve bonding within family members”
For that i told some crap… i said something like this…
” To improve the bonding within family members, they should all go to the beach and jump in to the water. Or may be they should also try scuba diving. They can catch fish and eat it …. “
Finally i got out and had no hope that i would clear. I got 66 up on 80. Phew! i was not able to believe it. I got through Versant
