Cleared Versant

Posted under General

For those who doesn’t know Versant is a communication testing system. The technology uses a speech processing system that is specifically designed to analyze speech from native and non-native speakers of English.

This Monday i had my Versant test. The test is totally divided in to 5 parts.
Part A: Reading
We were given a set of 12 point, where the system asks us to read the sentences at random. It was quite easy, as i practiced reading all the sentences before itself

Part B: Repeat
Here we have to hear to the sentences what the voice says and repeat it back. This was a bit tough for me. Cos, i cant even guess the words in some sentences, but still i managed to add some words in between.

Part C: One word questions
The voice will ask you some simple questions and you have to give the answer in a single word or a phrase. Again i fumbled for 2 or 3 questions.

Part D: Sentence Build
Here the system will split a sentence and jumble it and we will have to tell in the correct way. This was a bit tough. As i was not able to understand some words.

Part E: Free Speech
This is the only part i liked. The voice will give u 3 topics one after another and you have to speak on it for 20 sec each. I was talking all bullshit, since these questions don’t have a specify answer.
Like for instance i got this topic
” What family activity you will suggest to improve bonding within family members”

For that i told some crap… i said something like this…
” To improve the bonding within family members, they should all go to the beach and jump in to the water. Or may be they should also try scuba diving. They can catch fish and eat it …. “

Finally i got out and had no hope that i would clear. I got 66 up on 80. Phew! i was not able to believe it. I got through Versant

The Little LULU Show

Posted under Cartoon & General

The Little Lulu Show

Little Lulu show, this was one of my favorite TV shows, when i was studying my 9th class, i was a teenager but still i liked this kids show, use to watch it on cartoon network, the story revolves around a little girl named Lulu and and her friends Annie, Tubby, Iggy and some others. They get into adventures and the story always ends in a comical way. I liked Iggy very much after Lulu he was little cute and very innocent. There was only one thing that annoys me in the show is the fact that in most of time there will some competition between boys and girls and girls always win it, but hey its Lulu so its ok. Even though the show was to be happening in 1990’s the cloths were really old and looked like it was 1930’s. I never miss this show, those days my favorite cartoon was Batman (And till now it is) and next to that it was Lulu. I hope they will be showing The Little Lulu Show again on TV, i will be glad to watch it. I tried to download it, but i couldn’t find any good torrent link, after searching for for such a long time i got this 2 link, but got pissed of, for it had no Seeds

I found most of the videos in Youtube

India’s biggest ever gay parade

Posted under General

Indian gay parade
NEW DELHI — Hundreds of gay activists prepared to march in three Indian cities Sunday in the largest display of gay pride in the deeply conservative country where homosexuality is illegal, organizers said.

Gay rights supporters planned to take to the streets of Calcutta, Bangalore and New Delhi with rainbow flags and banners calling for an end to discrimination and pushing for acceptance in a society where intolerance is widespread.

“We are saying for the first time we feel safe enough and strong enough to come out to the streets and say we have our rights and we demand them,” said Lesley Esteves, 32, a gay rights activist who helped organize the New Delhi parade.

While small groups have marched in the eastern city of Calcutta in recent years, Sunday’s events are the first gay pride parades in Bangalore and New Delhi.

The marches come just days before the Delhi High Court is expected to hear arguments about overturning a law against homosexual sex that dates to the British colonial era. The law, which forbids acts “against the order of nature,” carries a punishment of up to 10 years in prison.

The law is rarely enforced, but activists say it sanctions discrimination.

“Discrimination is widespread because there is no protection or law or societal understanding,” said Esteves. “There’s discrimination in the workplace, there’s discrimination in the family - it’s on every level.”

Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi, a senior leader of India’s main Hindu nationalist party, the Bharatiya Janata Party, called homosexuality “unnatural” and said he opposed the gay activists’ march.

“I don’t think it will be accepted in our country. Most of the people are traditional people, religious people and it will not be accepted in Indian culture,” Naqvi said.

Naqvi said BJP supporters would not protest the march because “we are not going to give importance to such behaviour.”

Still, there are signs that homosexuality is becoming more accepted in India, at least in big cities. In New Delhi, gay and lesbian groups hold biweekly movie screenings and parties, and organizers say attendance is rising. Newspaper editorials have called for revisions to the law, and prominent writers and activists have signed petitions expressing their support.

Activists say marginalizing gay people is also a serious health concern because it drives them underground and makes them more likely to engage in unsafe sex.

More than 5 per cent of gay men are infected with HIV, the virus that causes AIDS, compared to 0.36 per cent of the general population, according to statistics compiled by the Ministry of Health. An estimated 2.5 million people in India are infected with HIV.

BPO’s Do Need Engineers ;D

Posted under General

Two days before one of my friend called me and told that we both could attend a interview at SutherLand. So i started from my home 9 am and reached the SutherLand office near Santhome at 9:30 am and waited there for an hour or so until they called me for the 1st round, the general HR, which was quite easy, and which had some expected questions like, tell me about yourself and some other usual questions which are meant to be asked during an interview. After they told that i got selected, they asked whether i want to go for the Microsoft process, i had no idea what they were they talking about, but i said, yes straight away and attended the Technical HR for Microsoft process, i got through, which had some simple questions about windows like, what is system restore and what is ‘regedit’ and some other simple question about windows after that they asked me to talk to this American named Paul over the phone, So i talked with this guy, who was clear with his questions and i think i answered good as well, but they rejected me, may be my accent was not that good, for that guy to understand, but he showed no sigh like that, his replies were like i was very clear to him. I can’t really guess what these people expect.

With a bit of disappointment i went to attend the interview for the DELL process, the interview was pretty easy there as well, which mainly concentrated on testing my communication skills. After this i took the Online Test, it had some simple aptitude questions, basic maths, and of course some questions to test my Language. After which i was offered the Offer Letter, It was nearly 6:30 in the evening. Now i am undergoing the training. If i am going to do bad in this, i would be kicked out.

BPOs Don’t need Engineers

Posted under General & Paranormal & Uncategorized

I know that i am going to have a couple of arrears, in the results which i am awaiting, so i decided to join some call center until i clear my arrears. Yesterday i went to CTS BPO near Perungudi, I went there and submitted my resume, and found out that they are not recruiting B.E, B.Tech, or MCA graduates. It was strange for me, thought that they are having some stupid criteria to attend the interview, so without losing hope, i went to Ajuba in Tidel Park, there they got my resume and asked me to wait, i waited for an hour , only to find out that they are not recruiting Engineering graduates as well. I called up one of my friend who was attending an interview in a BPO near Nungambakkam to ask whether i could go there, but they are not taking up engg graduates there as well. What could be the big reason behind this

PR checkers going insane

Posted under General

This afternoon Hari told me that his blog page rank has gone down from 3 to 0. So i checked out some of the reliable sites to check PR. It showed my blog’s PR as 0 and vinod’s domain was 0 as well, Google updated PR only a couple of weeks ago, so my instincts told me that some thing was fishy, when i tried to check the PR of Google home page, it showed 0 as well  Then found out that its some problem with the PR checkers and remembered one such problem some months back, where my blog’s PR was showing 8  It turned normal only now in the evening.

The Accident At Pallikaranai

Posted under General

A couple of days back Jerome and me were returning from Muruga’s home in his bike, it was around 7 in the evening and we were going near the Pallikaranai bus stand, all of a sudden a man who was standing beside the road tried to cross the road looking at the other side of the road and Jerome, who usually has better control over his bike had no time to reflex to stop the bike, the front wheel hit the man’s leg and we all three fell down, then Jerome and me stood up and the man who was hit was not on his legs it was nearly 20 seconds and he has not yet stood up and i ran to see what happened and was really shocked, blood was rushing out of the wound in his head, nose and ears, he was unconscious, his shirt was fully soaked by his blood. Man! i was afraid, then suddenly realized that there was no time to stare anymore,i tried pulling the man up to make him stand and 2 or 3 boys came for the rescue but he was really unconscious, there was a clinic near by, we took him there but the Doctor told that he can’t do anything, since it was a accident case.

In a while the man(49) started to stand on this legs, but still he was bleeding, the Doc in the clinic simply didn’t came forward to do first aid  Then someone near by suggested us to take him to a hospital near Medavkkam. So we managed to catch an auto and Jerome went along with the man,i took the bike and followed the auto to the hospital, mean while Jerome called up Muruga and told about this and he also came to the hospital. Some of the victims relatives were informed and they were also there in a while. Jerome managed to pay for the First aid and we left in a while after the treatment was done.

Am i old enough

Posted under General

I was in Salem last night as i went there for my sisters Valaikaappu(Its the usual ceremony done when any women is pregnant). My brother-in-law(mama) told that, we could Booz that night, but i was hesitating to accept. I do smoke with him but never ever had drunk. Finally i decided to go for it. We went to a bar near by around 11 pm and he told that some more people are yet to come. So we were waiting for a while and then they arrived. Oh my goodness they are quite old people, probably in their 50’s, all his relatives and i know them very well. I fell really embarrassed to sit there, cos i have never drunk with old people(except Magesh  ). My Mama ordered me a large initially, i really don’t want to drink with them , really! Then every one found out that i was feeling shy, but then they encouraged me to drink with them and told that there is nothing wrong in this kind of social drinking, i was still not ready to drink with them. Then finally my mamaasked me at least to have a beer. Finally had 2 bottles of beer and stopped with it cos i was sure of one thing, i should not get stoned  . Then went to the lodge and slept.

The breeding ground

Posted under General

Today i was there in my college to get my document corrected before getting it printed. We had some minor errors in the document and decided to edit. So Gany, Sarin , Me were editing the document and Hari was sitting right next to me and was making fun(trying to) of the people around. Once we were done with it, copied it to my pen-drive, suddenly all the word documents which were copied to the drive became screen savers and some disappeared, i swear i didnt had any virus in my pen-drive until i plugged in to the comp. So all the hard work went begging so we decided to do it from the beginning, holy shit!!!

So once again we were done with it and now copied it to Gany’s handy drive and took it to the HOD to show it, but just as we tried to open the drive , E Trust deleted all our documents which were infected, and so we asked the HOD to come to the lab itself and take a look at the document. And when i came back to my home and scanned it with E Trust it detected 48 viruses. Damn! thats too many, i think even Arun will not be having that much viruses in his pendrive
