I know that i am going to have a couple of arrears, in the results which i am awaiting, so i decided to join some call center until i clear my arrears. Yesterday i went to CTS BPO near Perungudi, I went there and submitted my resume, and found out that they are not recruiting B.E, B.Tech, or MCA graduates. It was strange for me, thought that they are having some stupid criteria to attend the interview, so without losing hope, i went to Ajuba in Tidel Park, there they got my resume and asked me to wait, i waited for an hour , only to find out that they are not recruiting Engineering graduates as well. I called up one of my friend who was attending an interview in a BPO near Nungambakkam to ask whether i could go there, but they are not taking up engg graduates there as well. What could be the big reason behind this

I don’t understand. I hear lots of people from our college have joined BPO’s ?
But if B.E Grads are not chosen, it means very clearly that we are over qualified.

You are over qualified, not me.
And i talked to my friend working in ajuba, who told that, B.E students are most likely to discontinue, in a few month. Since they join in BPO’s and start searching for jobs in software companies.

Simple reason da! They know you are not gonna stay for more than a couple of months! So, waste of time and money - for them!

Also engineering students will expect more compensation and perks from the company since they have the qualification while they can get more work done for less money from other people.
However many BPOs do recruit engineering students. You should look at more places like Sutherland.

The reason is that we leave BPO when we get s/w job. Try Sutherland and slash support.

@Gowtham,
Thinking about the ramifications, damn, there goes the only on campus our college had.
Don’t what Praveen and Marc said also fall under the overqualified category ?

Ya , exactly da.Even i experienced this in sutherland.I even signed the acceptance letter and and attended a brief conversation with hr about salary and dress code. and i was asked to bring a photo th next day for id card purposes. But when i went the next day they told me some lame reasons and told attend interview for some other process.But i didn’t turn up.
But now i am working in Allsec , which is a BPO.

I don’t think it will be followed in all BPO’s.Most of my B.E friends joined in SUTHERLAND and PEROT SYSTEMS..U better try in these BPO’s.

That’s strange. I thought engg students have scope everywhere… :-/

Me too attended one BPO interview last week. They asked me what you will do, if you get the job in S/W field. I maintained silence by that time. After that she said we will call you after some time. From her face expression itself i got the thing that, i was not qualified for this job. They are not ready to recruit B.E/ B.Tech students because of the reason that, we people will quit the job at any time if we get the job in S/W field… Thats the main reason..
