Okay-Nakkal / Hoggenakkal

Posted under Fucking Politics & General

For those who don’t know, Hoggenakkal (hope this is the correct spelling) is a sleepy town and a tourist spot,which is famous for its boat ride and waterfalls which is near the Tamilnadu border,officially comes under the Tamilnadu territory. The Tamilnadu Govt., has decided to utilize the water for the near by villages and town to satisfy their basic water needs.

But some mobs from Karnataka started to violently oppose this and even started claiming that Okkainakkal belongs to them,they even started to deytroy the Tamilnadu vehicles which enter the Karnataka border. It doesnt stop right there, back in Bangalore the theaters which were screening tamil movies were ransaked,and T.N govt., buses are not allowed to return back.The reason for this sudden madness is well know, the election in Karnataka is right around the corner,and the ruling party is trying hard to get some vote. Fucking Politics!!!.They won’t give us the Kaveri water even though the Supreme courts ordered to share with T.N and they won’t even allow us to utilize our own water resource.

    ya….that’s true…these politicians can mess people’s lives for their own selfish motives…..hopefully the unrest prevailing now mitigates before it turns ugly…..

  5. Marc on 03 Apr 2008 at 8:35 am #

    It is spelt ‘Hoggenakkal’ on sign boards.

    I was really shocked to hear that Tamil movies were not allowed to be screened. Sivaji was supposed to run for the next 8 years there.

  6. Gowtham on 03 Apr 2008 at 8:43 am #

    Gany, Not like that it is famous for a really long time.

    Yamuna, No! Wait, it will become much worse.

    Marc, Yeah felling mistake :lol:
    Kannda movies are the worst cinema in India,thats the main reason more tamil movies are screened there.

  7. Karthik on 03 Apr 2008 at 9:52 am #

    Sad “state” of affairs, i’d say.

    @Marc,

    Proper Noun. ;)

    Not only tamil movies, the Karnataka narrow politician’s are forced the shutting down of Tamil cable channels and band all prominent Tamil newspaper in Bangalore.

    Real politics shown here, watch more to come. This won’t end, another Kaveri dispute haha great.

  10. Gowtham on 03 Apr 2008 at 4:35 pm #

    WTF!!!!
    They shut down all the Tamil cable channels there and newspapers. It can’t get worse than this

    Korthak, don’t start your ridiculous argument all over again. For the last time, you cannot spell any nouns any way you want.

    The problem is pretty bad there. Today some actors were shouting on TV about it.

  12. Karthik on 04 Apr 2008 at 9:21 pm #

    @Margha a.k.a Margabandhu (read marc) a.k.a muniyasamy (read marc),

    It has to sound the same you know. You can’t spell cheque nbhysd and expecy us to understand. (we all know you are crypto guru. We aren’t) check is alright. (not a proper noun though.)

    Hogenakkal (or whatever) is a tamil word. (Kannada? Next a dispute for that) You spell it the way people want it spelt. Just because you saw it on a board, doesn’t mean that’s the right spelling. And I am sure Hogenakkal has a passport. Jeez.

    How do you suppose you can represent every sound in every language with 26 bloody alphabets in English ? Combination of different english alphabets can give you the same sound.

  14. Gowtham on 04 Apr 2008 at 11:52 pm #

    I just love it when Marc and Karthik, starts up an argument :grin:

  15. Vinod on 05 Apr 2008 at 10:21 am #

    @ Gowthaman
    Me too! :D
    Well I don’t know why ppl are fighting like this and saying we are from India when they go abroad. They can simply say the name of the state they are from. Morons!

  16. George on 05 Apr 2008 at 3:29 pm #

    Quit hating on people from Karnataka, dude. They’re cool.

  17. Karthik on 05 Apr 2008 at 4:55 pm #

    @Vinod,

    When you are abroad, people don’t care about where they are from. They want themselves represented and the only way of doing it is getting more people to join in. And the only way of doing it is pretending all Indians are same. (Just to get things done.)

    Another peossible reason is that people really hate the state of affairs in India and genuinely like other people from other states or whatever. When they are abroad, they will not be attacked for expressing such views.

    Caartdhikk, who decides what the pronounciation of a particular spelling is?

    Don’t be silly. One spelling. That’s it. Even if it isn’t adequate. If you are so bothered spell your name in your native language and see how many places let you do that.

  19. Karthik on 07 Apr 2008 at 4:46 pm #

    @Marc,

    You get to decide. Your spelling alone. Everyman for his own spelling. (Women, I don’t know ;) )

  20. gany on 08 Apr 2008 at 11:44 am #

    @Gautham
    See it got started to get worse here itself. This can be a good sign for that.

  21. Marc on 08 Apr 2008 at 12:47 pm #

    Yeah I’ll go around asking every person who they spell and pronounce their name before referring to them. I’m not THAT jobless. Neither is the rest of the world.

  22. Karthik on 09 Apr 2008 at 6:24 am #

    Regardless, that’s how it’s supposed to be done, Mark.

    One name one spelling ? Which is right, Mark or Marc ?

  23. Marc on 10 Apr 2008 at 6:23 pm #

    You seem to live in a parallel dimension, popping into this one now and then only to get confused with how things work here.

    Marc is the correct spelling. If you refer to Mark then you are talking to someone else.
