A couple of days back i reinstalled my OS the reason being the system was very slow. It took nearly a minute for my system to launch MS word
then think what a bad condition it was in and this is my 1st ever windows reinstall in 2 and a half years. It all started a week back when my games were not running properly,there was too much lag. So i un-installed the Anti-virus and continued using it and 2 days back the system started to act very strangely. Every application i start was not responding properly. I then installed Nod32 and scanned my system, to my astonishment there were 760 viruses found in my comp. And windows also starting alerting that some important win32 files are corrupted, so no other go than to reinstall the OS.
Now every thing is normal and my system is working just fine!

Well its not only the problem of OS dude. U must have used ARUN’s pendrive. it might be the reason for 760 virus. Im surprised that the number is too less. hey u having 64 MB ram and telling your system is too slow and lagging uh?? Change the RAM dude.

I too agree that it is because of Arun’s pen drive. How did Windows last for two and a half years? 2 GB RAM at that time would have been damn costly! And there was no 250 GB drive then. Or did you upgrade in between?
Vinod, your computer is as bad as Magesh’s even though it has a better configuration. Fix it!
George, it’s possible. Your system was too slow to run the viruses.

@ Marc
I don’t know whats the actual problem with my system but its now old and I cant fix it as I am planning to go for a new and a better PC which will support almost all games that are out there in the market!!!

@Vinod
Great, make sure that you also get a graphic card too.

Dai you are confusing my system with Magesh’s system. Mine has a 2gb ram and 250 gb hard disk.
December 25th, 2007 at 1:25 pm
Dai this is too much.. have u ever seen 250 gb hard disk.. i think u have typed wrongly. it must be 2mb ram and 259 mb hard disk.

first dont call that a system….i will tell a better than reinstall..better burn tht system its of no use……

@hari
Dai hari… Which world are you in??? 250gb hard disk is available in market for past one year…

Windows needs reinstallation every now and then. Especially if you have had viruses running. But even otherwise, no one really knows (even the guys who code at MS) after a while how things will behave. You start having conflicts between programs and all. So reinstalling it makes sense.
However, if your computer is susceptible to virus attacks frequently, or if programs you install screw your registry, then it makes sense to reinstall windows , install all the programs you want and then make a GHOST of it. Next time, you can simply use the ghost instead of a reinstallation. This is much faster than reinstalling and you don’t have to go running around for installation discs.

Dai you will have to depend on it for server once we start playing warcraft if Marc is not hosting. So you better mind it.

@ Hari
You are right. It might be because of Arun’s pendrive.
@ Bharath
You are the pro and so you will be right! ROFL
@ Gowthaman
You deserve it “Bandwidth Demon”. I am happy because my system also was formatted few months back and now its like Pentium II system. ROFL

Seven Hundred And Sixty?!! HOW?! I’ve had a computer since the late 90s and I’ve never had that many. I didn’t even think it was possible.
Of course the reason may be that I didn’t have enough RAM to run 760 viruses.
December 27th, 2007 at 6:20 pm
@ George
Do you still have that system
@Vinod
And how does formatting slows down the system,doesnt make sense!
December 28th, 2007 at 11:18 am
Sorry dude, it died. That’s why we moved up. Otherwise we would still have it running somewhere.
December 28th, 2007 at 12:08 pm
Yeah i should make a ghost of it. Thanks to Nod32 and zone alarm it made it possible for my OS to survive 2 and a half years.
December 28th, 2007 at 6:26 pm
Now i remember! A month ago i plugged in Arun’s pen drive in my comp,it should have only done all the damage.
Actually mine has a 512 ram and 80 gb HDD. Just bluffing for the heck of it
